Why small-scale camping and glamping holidays are becoming increasingly popular in France right now.
Discover the hottest travel trend for 2026.
Small-scale camping and glamping sites are transforming the way people holiday in France. Instead of busy resorts and packed pitches, travellers are increasingly choosing intimate campsites and thoughtfully designed glamping stays that offer space, comfort, and a deeper connection to nature, and this trend is growing rapidly right now.
With fewer guests, peaceful surroundings, and a more personal atmosphere, these smaller campsites deliver exactly what modern travellers are seeking, relaxation, authenticity, and quality time outdoors.
From rural retreats to boutique glamping hideaways, this movement is quickly becoming one of the most popular ways to explore the French countryside today.
A move towards space, calm, and quality
Small-scale campsites typically host just a handful of pitches or glamping units, creating a relaxed and uncrowded environment. Guests can enjoy open space, quiet mornings, and uninterrupted views of the countryside, something increasingly rare in traditional holiday resorts.
This sense of calm is one of the biggest reasons why intimate sites such as Le Ranch Camping et Glamping, with a maximum of just six spacious pitches, are so appealing. The site never feels busy or noisy, allowing guests to fully unwind.
Mornings begin with birdsong and coffee enjoyed in peace, while afternoons are perfect for reading, relaxing, or soaking up the sunshine without feeling overlooked.
Privacy with the option to be social
One of the greatest strengths of small-scale camping is its flexibility. Guests can enjoy complete privacy when they want to relax, while still having opportunities to connect with others in a natural, comfortable way.
At Le Ranch Camping et Glamping, social moments happen effortlessly. Popular pizza nights bring together guests and local residents, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with conversation and shared experiences.
There's also a small bar offering poolside drinks and ice creams, where people often gather in the afternoons and evenings to unwind together, social without ever feeling crowded.
Personal service that enhances the experience
Smaller campsites are known for their friendly, hands-on approach. With fewer guests to care for, owners can offer genuine hospitality and personal attention.
At Le Ranch, guests benefit from tailored recommendations on local markets, restaurants, walking routes, and hidden spots that many visitors never discover. Having knowledgeable hosts nearby adds comfort, convenience, and a deeper connection to the region.
This personal touch is frequently what turns a good holiday into a memorable one.
A more authentic way to experience France
Small-scale camping holidays allows travellers to slow down and enjoy France in a more meaningful way. Without the noise and structure of large resorts, holidays become focused on simple pleasures, nature, local food, village life, and time to relax.
Guests often describe it as feeling less like a tourist stay and more like being welcomed into a peaceful corner of French life.
This authenticity is a key reason why many people who try small-scale camping once choose it again and again.
Comfort and character through glamping
Glamping has played a major role in expanding the appeal of this trend. Stylish, fully equipped accommodations offer real beds, modern facilities, and thoughtful design, all while staying close to nature.
This blend of comfort and outdoor living appeals to couples, families, and travellers who love the idea of camping but want a more relaxed, comfortable experience.
By combining privacy, character, and convenience, glamping has helped small-scale camping reach a wider audience than ever before.
Small in size, big on experience
With spacious pitches, peaceful surroundings, a welcoming social atmosphere, and attentive personal service, Le Ranch Camping et Glamping reflects exactly why small-scale camping is thriving in France right now.
It offers everything today's travellers value most: space, calm, comfort, authenticity, and connection.
Why small-scale camping is more than just a trend
As travel preferences continue to shift towards slower, more meaningful experiences, small-scale camping and glamping are set to remain one of France's most popular holiday choices right now and into the future.
For anyone dreaming of a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, without sacrificing comfort or human connection, small-scale camping in France may be the perfect solution

Our very first news article!
Our 2025 season is over.
Welcome to our very first news article! Bear with me (Hayley), writing isn't my strong suit, I much prefer talking face-to-face! But with our new website and booking system coming soon, I thought it was a good time to give it a go.
A little delay & new features to come
You may have noticed a slight delay in the launch of our booking system for the next season. This is due to ongoing updates! Our site is now available in French and English, with the Dutch version coming very soon.
2025 – An unforgettable season at the Ranch!
We're happy to say it's been a busy summer, and we've had the pleasure of welcoming so many wonderful people from all walks of life. It's always a joy to meet new people and catch up with our regulars—you're the heart of what makes Le Ranch feel like home.
There were also some wonderful highlights this year—including a stunning wedding held right here on the campsite! And the icing on the cake was that we were honored to receive recognition from ACSI, a Dutch camping organization renowned throughout Europe.
Even though we didn't win first prize, we were delighted to receive an honorable mention in the "Small Charming Campsites" category. Out of more than 2,700 campsites in France , Le Ranch was ranked in the Top 100 ! Considering our small size—probably one of the smallest campsites in their system—this is a nice surprise, and a great source of pride.
And, true to the spirit of the Ranch, we're already looking ahead to next year. I love taking on challenges, and this time, we're aiming even higher!
🗳️ Vote for us!
If you haven't already, we'd really appreciate it if you'd take a moment to vote for us. Every vote counts, and it would mean the world to us.

Flashback: 7 years at Le Ranch
I still can't believe it's been seven years since we took over the campsite in 2019. This is the perfect opportunity to tell you a little about our story, and how we got here, running a campsite in the heart of the French countryside.
Mike and I began our adventure after many holidays spent with my parents, who lived in France. Something about the Corrèze region drew us, especially after visiting Haute-Vienne and Dordogne. And as soon as we discovered Les Monédières, we knew it was home.
We found Le Ranch completely by chance. At the time, we dreamed of having a campsite in the UK, but it seemed out of reach. One day, I posted a question about the area in a Facebook group, and received a private message asking if we would be interested in buying a campsite. I was immediately intrigued!
After some discussion, we arranged a visit in September 2018. The Ranch was still in its infancy, created by a British couple who ran a farm on the land. They had built the toilets, obtained permission for camping, a liquor license, and installed a yurt. But they wanted to slow down and hand over to new caretakers.
From the moment we arrived to visit Le Ranch, we fell in love with the place. We came back, put our house up for sale, and by the end of December 2018, we were settled in France.
And here we are, seven years later!
And for the rest…
Every year, we try to make new improvements to the campsite. This year, in addition to the new website, other exciting projects are in the pipeline, I'll tell you about them in our next article.
They're talking about us!
We had the pleasure of being featured in French Property News magazine, in an article about Brits who have chosen to move to France, in the countryside or in the city (we are, of course, in the countryside part!).
Stay informed
Don't forget to subscribe to our newsletter! You'll be the first to know about special offers, last-minute availability, and all our latest news.
Thank you for being part of our adventure. We look forward to seeing you again in 2026!
